50% of the purchase price for this weaving is paid to Fermina, the artisan, who set her own price for her work.
20% of the purchase price covers costs related to manufacturing, shipping, duties and packaging.
30% of the purchase price helps Your Tomorrow cover costs for design, sampling, marketing and wages.
We collaborated with Fermina, one of our incredibly talented artisan partners in Oaxaca, Mexico, on this fair trade weaving. Inspired by one of Fermina's traditional rug designs, we've created an asymmetrical, timeless monotone design, we feel would be at home anywhere in the world.
Fermina is part of a natural dying co-operative, so the 100% wool has been dyed using natural plants and minerals, then woven on a foot loom in the Oaxaca Valley in Mexico. From dying the wool, to preparing the materials for the loom and then weaving, this piece takes around a week to complete.
The entire front of this cushion is woven. The back has been finished in a course unbleached cotton, to create a 'forever' cushion.
This long bed or sofa pillow measures approximately 120 x 40cm, a perfect size for King or Queen beds, a sofa or a window seat.
• measuring approx. 120 x 40cm/ 47 x 16in and weighs 1.5-2kgs/3.5-4.5lb
• back of cushion features course unbleached cotton
• fits two 65 x 40cm inserts (not included - I use and recommend Ikea's Fjådrar cushion pad)
• tie closure
• dry clean only
